Before you start, you will need access to the following:
• You need to have a public Instagram account and have some posts published there.
• A Facebook Developer account
Step 1 — Create a new app
You need to create an app on Facebook Developers. To do this, you have to log in to your Facebook profile and go to Facebook Developers Account. Go to the Apps panel and click Create App.
When asked what your app needs to do, select More options/Something Else.
This will open a pop-up window where you can give a name for your App, set your email address, and choose a Business Manager if you have one. After setting your App Display Name, click on Create App.
Step 2 — Configure the Instagram basic display
Click Products, locate the Instagram Basic Display product and click Set Up to add it to your app.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Create New App.
You need to type in your app’s name, domain, email, and others. Select Business and Pages in the Category dropdown list.
ATTENTION! It’s recommended to use https extension.
Choose the Yourself or your own business option in the App Purpose block. Once everything is done, click on the Save Changes button.
Step 3 — Add an Instagram test user
Now you need to add an Instagram Test user in order to get your access token. Go to the Dashboard > Roles.
Scroll down to the Instagram Testers block and click on the Add Instagram Testers button.
You need to specify the Instagram account, which will be your Tester User’s one.
After clicking the Submit button, an invitation will be sent to this Instagram user. Open a new web browser window to go to Instagram and sign in to your Instagram account > settings.
Step 4 — Get Instagram access token
Go to the Products in the Dashboard on the left.
Click on the Instagram Basic Display > Basic Display.
On the main page, go to the Client OAuth Settings and insert https://api.divipeople.com/instagram-token
In the Deauthorize insert the URL which users will be pinged if someone tries to uninstall apps via Facebook.com without interacting with the app itself.
In the next block – Data Deletion Requests – insert the URL.
Go to the Products in the Dashboard on the left.
Click on the Instagram Basic Display > Basic Display.
Find your Instagram App ID and Instagram App Secret.
